AAPI Youth @ Work
Did you know that the AAPI community make up 15% of the county population but only 3% are AAPI in the Youth@work program?
Many AAPI students do well academically, but their likelihood of them promoting to management in workplace is the lowest including LA County. A mentorship and leadership development such as the AAPI Career Pathways Initiative will help address this gap and create a pipeline that leads to a wonderful career in County government or the private sector.
In collaboration with LACAAEA and FACE (Faith and Community Empowerment), LA County WDACS (Workforce, Development, Aging and Community Services), LA County launches an outreach initiative to address this gap and inequity. In this video, watch Second District Supervisor Holly Mitchell support this effort. The Paid Internship Program with LA County and the private sector for youth/young adults ages 14-24. It’s a great opportunity for a young worker to develop job skills and an awesome beginning to list on their resume. Pays $15/hour for up to 120 hours.
If you know of a company/business owner/organization that may be interested in establishing a paid internship opportunity for a young adult at no cost to them, please email [email protected]. It’s a win/win situation for everyone! LACAAEA and FACE continues to be committed to continue to help address the racial and service inequities for the AAPI community.
