Building Political Power with Asian American Trailblazers

  • Democracy Center at the Japanese American National Museum 100 North Central Avenue Los Angeles, CA, 90012 United States (map)

AAPI Equity Alliance and Center for Asian Americans United for Self Empowerment (CAUSE) at JANM are proud to present an evening with Asian American political trailblazers and authors:

  • Warren Furutani, ac-tiv-ist, noun: a person who works to bring about political or social change

  • Maeley Tom, I'm Not Who You Think I am: An Asian American Woman's Political Journey

  • Bill Wong, Better to Win: Hardball Lessons in Leadership, Influence & the Craft of Politics.

As a community, how can we connect and learn from each other as we gear up for the 2024 presidential election? We invite community leaders, organizers and the next generation of activists and students to kick off the new year with a free, in-person opportunity to strategize alongside Asian American trailblazers and discover opportunities for collaboration and power building.

The conversation, moderated by Dr. Andrew Murphy, will cover their leadership journeys in politics, lessons learned and key moments that define their political activism and civic leadership. The program will start at 6:30 PM followed by a reception at 7:45 PM.

Hosted at the Daniel K. Inouye National Center for the Preservation of Democracy at the Japanese American National Museum.
